Advent: Hope to Love

Advent: Hope to Love
“Advent: Hope to Love” is a Customizable Short Film perfect for inviting people into the deeper meanings of the Advent season: the Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love along the four-week pilgrimage to Christmas Day.
Customized with your congregation’s name, website, and worship times, this film will spice up your website and social media, and serve as an easy way for people to invite their friends to worship.
And to top it all off, every purchase of this film comes with a companion poster and devotional designed for families of all shapes and sizes: “House of God: Mary, Jesus, and the Meaning of Christmas” (complete with the same artwork seen in the film). This film+poster+devotional package provides for a seamless, cohesive approach to the Advent and Christmas season.
For customizable short films, SALT works on a “sliding scale” model: $75 for churches with up to 100 members; $125 for churches with 100-500 members; and $175 for churches with more than 500 members.
Once your order has been placed, within 7-10 business days you will receive a Dropbox link to download your film, a folder of stills from the shoot (perfect for your website, newsletters, and promotion on social media!), and a zip-file with SALT’s “House of God” poster and devotional. The poster and devotional are inspired by the lectionary texts for Year B – but their themes are universal enough to work in any Advent season.
House of God: Mary, Jesus, and the Meaning of Christmas:
An Advent Poster and Devotional for Families of All Shapes and Sizes
Advent is the season of waiting for Jesus to arrive – and it’s also a time when Mary comes center stage. For thousands of years, Christians have called her many names: Theotokos (“Bearer of God” or “House of God”), Our Lady of Guadalupe, the First Disciple, and many more.
So this Advent season, as we prepare for Jesus to arrive, let’s get to know Mary a little bit better, filling out her ordinary, extraordinary, inspiring portrait – all the while learning how we, too, can make our homes (and our hearts!) “houses of God.”
“House of God” comes with both 1) a lovely poster filled with fun, engaging activity ideas for each week, and 2) a companion devotional booklet, complete with simple, candlelight weekly services, scriptural passages to read, meditations to discuss, practices to try (including the activities listed on the poster), and more.
This resource includes an introduction to Advent, and both the poster and the devotional include an editable window in which you can enter (on the poster) your church’s name and website, and (on the devotional) upcoming events from your church or family calendar.
The scriptural passages in this devotional correspond to Year B in the Revised Common Lectionary – but since their themes are universal, this devotional can be used fruitfully during any Advent season.
Files: This listing is for a downloadable PDF, printing instructions for the 11 x 14 poster and 8.5 x 11 devotional, and an e-reader version of the devotional.
Please note: you will not receive a physical product as this is a digital download. This resource is for congregational use only, which means it may not be reproduced commercially, duplicated, or resold :)

Magnify: Mary’s Song and the Magnificent Women of Advent
An Advent Devotional
Each Advent season, Christian communities all over the world return to Mary’s stirring song, the “Magnificat.” But the truth is, Mary doesn’t sing alone. She sings with Hannah, and Elizabeth, and Miriam, and Shiphrah, and Puah, and Rizpah, and Ruth – and a host of other magnificent women who “magnify” God’s mission of love and grace, preparing the way for Christmas morning and beyond.
In this Advent devotional, we focus on a few of those women in scripture who blazed the trail for Mary and Jesus, and who can inspire us, too, to join in the song of God's salvation, where the lowly are lifted up, the mighty are brought down from their thrones, and the hungry are filled with good things. Come, Jesus, come!
“Magnify: Mary’s Song and the Magnificent Women of Advent” comes complete with simple, candlelight weekly services, scriptural passages to read, meditations to discuss, practices to try, and more – all designed to help us explore the fascinating characters, big ideas, and deeper meanings of the season.
This resource includes an introduction to Advent, and includes an editable window in which you can enter upcoming events from your family or church calendar.
