2023 was Earth’s hottest year in recorded history. The time has come: God’s call to action – to protect and preserve a healthy climate for all – is ringing like a church bell.

Indeed, in virtually every transformative movement – from abolitionism to women’s suffrage to child labor protections – people of faith have been at the center of the action. To love the world, and put our love into practice. To care for creation, and pass it on to the next generation better than we found it.

This seven-week, 40-day devotional takes a “love-and-act” approach (rather than “doom-and-gloom”), building on our love for our neighbors, near and far, and our love for God, Maker of heaven and earth.

So grab your favorite Bible and a decent internet connection (each purchase comes with a “Link Sheet” pdf with links to excellent video and written resources). Step by step, we’ll engage with Scripture and tradition, science and faith – all for the sake of building a custom-made, solution-oriented action plan for participating in the Spirit’s ongoing, transformative movement for the life of the world.

This 40-day devotional can be used any time of year, including (but not limited to) the Season of Lent; each week includes references to classic biblical texts, including the Lenten passages from Year B in the Revised Common Lectionary – but since its themes are universal, this resource can be used fruitfully during any seven-week span, or adapted to a weekend or full-day retreat.

Finally, each devotional also includes an editable “Events” page on the back, on which you can add your church name and any upcoming services or events you want to highlight.
