Becoming in the New Year: Resources for a Wider Welcome

Meet SALT’s intern, Cindy Bohrer (she/her)!

Cindy’s wrapping up a graduate degree in Social Transformation from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, and she’s passionate about creating safe, inclusive spaces, particularly when it comes to gender, identity, and pronoun usage.

For the last few months, she’s been working on “Becoming in the New Year,” a fun downloadable resource to help churches become more generous, kind, and affirming — because ya’ll means all! And, she’s totally jazzed to offer this resource free for everyone in the SALT community. So whether you’re looking to zhoosh up a church event or coffee hour, kick off the new year (at the beginning of Advent — the church’s new year — or on January 1st), ring in Pride month with a party next summer, or welcome folks back to church next fall, we hope you’ll check it out.

When you download “Becoming in the New Year”, here’s what you’ll get:

  • Ideas, tips, and resources, including information on the importance of using affirmed pronouns and how to support a gender-inclusive community

  • Printable pronouns stickers

  • Step-by-step stitchable pronoun pendant instructions (a craftivist project!) with Maker Meditations

  • Printable photo booth signs and coloring pages

  • A few love notes to print up and leave around the church or around your community

Cindy would love to connect with churches who try any or all of “Belonging in the New Year,” so please let us know if and when you plan to use these resources - she would love to be in touch!
