The Story of Lent

Lent Customizable Short Films

Now that we’re knee deep and wading through the waiting and watching of Advent, it’s time to start thinking about Lent.  After all, Lent begins on Wednesday, February 18th.

As you know, the word “Lent” means “springtime,” or the “lengthening of days.”  In the lengthening brightness from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday, what was cold becomes warm.  What was dormant springs into newness of life.  Just as green shoots break through the winter earth, so the church stirs into action to proclaim the Easter mystery:  in dying, God destroys death, and in rising, God restores life (and, for all those reasons and many more, Lent is one of our favorite seasons over here at SALT!).

If your church or organization is interested in making the most of this sacred season by using one (or two!) of SALT’s newest customizable short films, now is the time to act!

Churches across the country have used our films in the following ways: (1) on their organization’s website; (2) shown during worship and/or on announcement screens throughout their facilities; (3) as local television spots; (4) as a fun and vibrant invitation that church folks can forward to their friends, family members, co-workers, etc.; (4) and, as a way to get their church into the social media game (think Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter, etc.).

As is our practice, we are making these films (customized with your church’s name, website, and Sunday services throughout Lent) available to congregations and not-for-profit organizations on a sliding scale basis.  We’re suggesting $175 for churches with 50–100 members; $275 for churches with 100–500 members; and $375 for churches with more than 500 members - but, please know if this price point is not possible, we’re open to a “pay what you can” model.

So, let us know if you’d like to take part in this round of customizable films.  If you’re interested, please send along your church's name (let us know what your church is called both verbally and in it's written form - sometimes these vary!), website, Sunday worship schedule, "pay scale," and contact information to:

gretchen@saltproject.org

And, as always, thanks for your interest and support of the SALT Project - we wouldn't be able to make all of this fun and thoughtful media with you...

Peace,

The SALT Team
